Paddling after dark

Paddlers are reminded that under MAST by-laws they must have a white light or a white strobe light visible from 360 degrees.  It is essential paddlers observe the legislation in place.  It is for your safety. As it is, your lights are low in the water and you are difficult to see even in daylight but especially in darkness. Keep to either side of the River, close to shore and out of regular transit lines used by larger vessels.

MAST will patrol the River Derwent in coming weeks and if lights are not being used as per the legislation, infringement notices will be issued without hesitation.

Please notify all paddlers and members of your clubs.
