Mariners are advised that works will commence on the removal of the lit port lateral number 23 navigation mark on the River Tamar in position 41 19.9818S, 147 01.072E on Friday, 19 July 2019. A new port lateral mark will be established in the same position. Works are expected to take five days and during this period the navigation aid will be unlit. A 14m x 14m steel barge with a 24 tonne excavator on board will be on site for the duration of the works. The barge will be lit at night with four yellow flashing lights on each corner of the barge. The barge will be held in position using spud piles and additional anchors and will be accompanied with two 3m x 6m steel support pontoons.
On 23 July the barge and pontoons will relocate to the lit port lateral navigation mark north east of number 12 at Alanvale on the River Tamar in position 41 23.4467S, 147 05.591E. This navigation aid will be removed and a new port lateral mark will be established in position. It is expected that the works will be completed by Monday, 29 July 2019. The port lateral mark will be unlit for the duration of the works and the barge and pontoons will be lit on site as advised previously in this notice.
