MAST Marine Facilities

Marine and Safety Tasmania has some 55 marine facilities including 31 jetties/wharves, 18 boat ramps and 6 training walls and breakwaters. In addition Marine and Safety Tasmania has over 274 navigation aids. These facilities are geographically spread around the State.

The marine facilities are all managed by MAST with maintenance being undertaken through contract arrangements with private sector companies.

MAST, in consultation with structural engineers, has developed a maintenance and rebuilding programme for all of their marine facilities. Regular three monthly audits are undertaken to ensure that all marine facilities are safe for all users and structural audits of marine facilities is undertaken by engineers engaged by MAST on a bi-annual basis.
